I’m just wondering what it would be like if suddenly every user were running a fully configured Hardened Gentoo with Chrome and no Java/Adobe Reader.

I mean… will it ever be that the cost of exploitation is high enough that end users stop becoming valuable targets? I guess attackers would find new ways to exploit systems, or work within sandboxes and stick to XSS or MITM attacks. And, of course, social engineering.

It’s just interesting to think about. What’s really the goal here? To just keep pace with hackers or are we actually trying to ‘win’ this? Can we? I think the general consensus is pretty defeatist.
